Annual Charity of Choice
Our major fundraising event of the year is our Annual Gala Dinner. We designate one organization per year to receive the majority of proceeds from this lavish event, our "Charity of Choice". The rest of the proceeds, combined with other fundraising through the year support a broad range of organizations that include other charitable causes (see below) as well as giving to the Italian cultural community.
Below is a list of our annual Charity of Choice recipients since 2003. Sons of Italy Garibaldi Lodge has given $455,000 to local charities in the past nine years, and we have been giving for 26 years now! The list of recent recipients demonstrates our commitment to giving to a wide variety of deserving charities:
We Don't Just Give to Our Charity of Choice
While the Annual Gala is our major fundraiser and our opportunity to give a large sum in one evening to that year's Charity of Choice, we give to other charities at the Gala and throughout the year.
